Back End Engineering Chapter Lead

Role Purpose

Our Backend Chapter lead is a master software engineer that ensures his team is equipped with the best skillset to handle the daily challenges of creating solutions that affect millions of users. 

We believe a leader is somebody who knows the way, shows the way and goes the way and as such this is a hands-on role that spans from solutions design to the most technical details, from mentoring to career management. 

Main Responsibilities 

• Ensuring members of the chapter develop and maintain their technical skill by facilitating training, mentorship and knowledge sharing.

• Promote and maintain best practices through the setting of sensible standards and effective methodologies while promoting continuous change, improvement and innovation.

• Support the career development and progression of chapter members, while ensuring effective recruitment and onboarding.

• Build a community within the chapter and cross-chapter alike.

• Provide technical leadership and support within the area of expertise and help solve complex problems, offer advice, and ensure that high standards are maintained in technical practices.

Minimum required skill set, knowledge, and experience

• Advanced knowledge of system design in highly scalable, distributed systems.

• Advanced knowledge of java/spring.

• Lead by example by demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the software developed by your chapter. Ensure that your team delivers high-quality, resilient, maintainable, and scalable code.

• Experience in leading and managing a team of engineers.

• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in mentoring and guiding teams.

• Passion for fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
