Duties Provides support to the patrons of the facility in the form of instruction and technical assistance in the minor repair and maintenance of their motor vehicles that can be accomplished by cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing parts in cooling systems; braking systems; starting/charging systems; electrical systems; drive-trains; and suspension systems.
Performs appropriate troubleshooting and explains proper process for correcting problems.
Provides guidance in, and demonstrates, proper technique of locating worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts through visual check or use of a variety of test equipment.
Performs limited services on patrons' motor vehicles such as tire mounting and balancing; oil changes; minor exhaust welding; radiator/cooling system flush; and engine analysis.
Complies with HAZMAT policies and procedures.
Assures that patrons observe fire, safety, and environmental regulations and policies.
Keeps work center in orderly condition and performs clean-up duties as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position requires the incumbent to possess or maintain a valid state Driver's License to operate vehicles. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screen and random testing thereafter. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination. Qualifications Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Must be physically able to lift, handle, and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds; occasionally up to or over 50 pounds. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
