Job Summary
Our Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) team is looking for an engineer with knowledge on modelling aerospace navigation sensors and developing related data fusion algorithms. The candidate will join the company in the Casoria's offices and will take responsibility for the design, development, and testing of Assured and Alternative Navigation algorithms (i.e. based on cameras, radar, LIDAR, radio beacons, etc.) to be integrated in new multi-sensor navigation products.
Responsibilities and Duties
The selected candidate will be included in the GNC team and will be part of a multidisciplinary team with experience in modelling and simulation of aerospace systems, development of Guidance, Navigation and Control algorithms, and multi-sensor navigation units. The selected candidate will take the following responsibilities:
Analysis of features and selection of sensors alternative to GNSS (i.e. cameras, LIDARs, Radars, etc.) for navigation purposes.Investigate and implement low level data processing algorithms of such alternative sensors to be useful within a navigation sensor fusion algorithm.Definition of requirements, design, modeling, and simulation of assured and alternative sensor fusion navigation algorithms in Matlab/Simulink or similar environment.Develop the algorithms for sensor failure detection and exclusion and for verifying the integrity (i.e. its reliability) of the navigation solution that uses such alternative sensors.Support the definition of verification and validation test plans, system prototyping, execution of test campaigns and analysis of results.Support to software coding, testing and qualification of the assured and alternative navigation algorithms.Qualification and Skills Required Skills Master's degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, or Robotics/Automation Engineering.Knowledge of digital signal processing fundamentals and related computer processing architectures.Consolidated knowledge in the use of algorithm development and modeling tools, such as Matlab/Simulink or similar.Knowledge of the key principles related to sensor fusion techniques and signal filtering.Able to work autonomously and/or in a team.Attitude to problem solving and to achieve results within time and cost constraints.Good knowledge of English in writing and speaking (the knowledge of additional languages is a plus).
