Job Description The Associate Mechanic has entry-level maintenance experience with a background in light and/or heavy commercial maintenance or military maintenance.
The Associate Mechanic understands general maintenance principles and the theory of internal combustion engines.
Understanding and experience in a variety of maintenance and routine repair work on engines, engine accessories, and power transmission systems on automobiles, trucks, and construction equipment is required.
Basic knowledge and understanding of testing, diagnostic, and repair work are essential.
Performs other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications H.S.
Diploma or equivalent (Secondary school completion) and a minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, power generators, power plants, aircraft, or any diesel or gasoline-powered equipment or vehicle.
Maintenance, repair, technical experience, and background in commercial maintenance or military maintenance.
Preferred areas of experience on non-tactical/commercial vehicle fleets and/or military shall be with light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, ground systems, generators, power plants, aircraft, or any diesel or gasoline-powered equipment or vehicle.
Knowledge and proficiency with general automotive tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic test equipment.
Vocational, technical, or military formal certificates of training in a related maintenance field may be substituted for equivalent years of experience.
Position may require moderate to lengthy travel to various locations/countries.
Flexibility and willingness to deploy to all/any of these locations throughout Europe, including Southwest Asia, South Central Asia, and/or Africa.
Some OCONUS deployments may be in hostile ('war zone') environments.

Physical Requirements Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch, and kneel.
Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
Must be able to work in high noise areas.
Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.
Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.
Security Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a (DoD) Public Trust clearance.
