We are seeking an environmental attorney to be based in our London office to support Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS provides cutting edge cloud computing services and IT infrastructure to public and private clients around the globe, including on-demand compute capacity, data storage, content delivery, database services, browsers, and more. The successful candidate will join the AWS Legal Regulatory Risk Management & Compliance team focusing on environmental compliance of AWS's facilities and operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
You will be part of a team that counsels Amazon's data center business on a broad range of environmental, regulatory, procurement, sustainability, and compliance matters. Principal duties include providing day-to-day advice on compliance issues, monitoring upcoming environmental regulatory changes and advising the business on advocacy strategies, advising on new region expansion and site development pathways for new facilities, working cross-functionally with other data center teams to ensure operational compliance, negotiating commercial transactions with vendors, and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. This role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to join a collaborative, tight-knit team that is leading exciting and pioneering global initiatives as part of a business that is making history. Some international travel will be required.
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, pragmatic, enjoy working hard and finding creative solutions to complex business problems, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Competitive salary based on experience and includes equity compensation.
