About the Role Your Moment Awaits…. Belmond is recruiting an Assistant Financial Controller to work on property at multiple locations in Italy. The role might require relocating temporarily to various locations within the Southern Europe Region which might include currently Italy, Spain, and Portugal.
Primary Responsibilities: Oversees the Accounting department activities to ensure optimal efficiency and performance of the department.Represents the Financial Controller in his absence.Assists Financial Controller in the budgeting & forecasting processes.Directs and supervises Accounting department employees, including income audit and accountant.Assists the FC in implementing policies, rules, internal controls, and safeguards that ensure profitability and control of operations; liaison with the business's external and internal auditors.Coordinates month-end closing, prepares all required journal entries, performs analytical reviews of Financial Statements, and explains any variances from Budget.Assists Financial Controller for Financial Reporting to Corporate Headquarters.Coordinates annual internal and external audit processes.Monitors departmental internal controls and creates and implements Operating procedures as necessary.Coordinates the reconciliation of the balance sheets.Delegates accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.Identifies solutions to discrepancies in financial records.Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.Qualifications: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Highly skilled in accounting and financial processes.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented and highly organized.Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.Excellent critical thinking skills.Previous experience in a similar role.Business and Accounting background.Good written and verbal communication skills.Good analytical and reasoning skills.Ability to think clearly under pressure.Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.Ability to work effectively and relate well with senior management, colleagues, and subordinates.English language essential; Spanish and Portuguese language desirable.At Belmond, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture built on kindness, active listening, and genuine connections with our colleagues and guests.
