Assistant Director of Enrollment and Director of Financial AidLowell School, a progressive school of approximately 315 students in NW Washington, DC, seeks an Assistant Director of Enrollment and Director of Financial Aid beginning immediately. This is a twelve-month position. The Assistant Director of Enrollment and Director of Financial Aid reports to the Director of Enrollment Management as an integral member of the Enrollment Team. This individual will share in the responsibility for all initiatives and activities related to student recruitment and enrollment.
The ideal candidate has experience in a school setting, strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The Assistant Director of Enrollment and Director of Financial Aid must also demonstrate strong judgment, an ability to problem-solve independently, and must possess a strong sense of initiative and self-direction. Teamwork and collaboration are critical, and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. This role requires a commitment to regular evening and weekend work during the peak of the admissions cycle and less frequently at other moments throughout the school year.
Qualifications:Bachelor's DegreeExperience with Google Workplace and Microsoft OfficeProfessional experience in a school settingExperience with financial aid processes and proceduresPreferred Experience:Experience in independent school or college admissions preferredExperience with databases and admissions-specific programs (Ravenna, Filemaker Pro, Blackbaud, Clarity) preferredRequired Skills:Self-motivated and able to work and problem-solve independentlyDemonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentDemonstrated commitment to multicultural competence and the advancement of initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justiceStrong interpersonal skills with adults and children ages 2-14Strong organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail and follow-throughFluent understanding of numbers, and budget managementAbility to establish rapport with familiesRequired Enrollment Responsibilities:Partner with the Director of Enrollment Management on all recruitment, enrollment and retention initiatives and strategiesDesign, organize, and lead campus tours, often several times a week.Interview prospective parents at all grade levels and writing summariesInterview student applicantsAssume primary responsibility for 50% of applicant filesEvaluate completed applicationsParticipate in Admissions CommitteeOther tasks as requested by the Director of Enrollment ManagementRequired Financial Aid Responsibilities:Direct financial aid budget to advance intentional economic diversityProvide ongoing communication for current and applicant families on matters relating to financial aidWork with Director of Development on needs and opportunities for merit/non-need based aidLead the Financial Aid CommitteeUpdate website to incorporate evolving policies and practicesPrepare award recommendations for all applicants and present for review by Financial Aid CommitteeWork with the Director of Enrollment Management and Director of Finance and Operations to advise the Board on financial aid in relation to enrollment targets and to inform annual budget (projections)Work with the Business Office on audit and to reconcile revenue and expense accounts.Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.Long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Candidates interested in applying should email a cover letter, resume, and 2 to 3 letters of reference to the attention of Tanya Espy Disparte, Director of Enrollment Management, at ******.
