Position Summary: The Villanova Institute for Teaching and Learning (VITAL) serves as a hub for innovative teaching and learning initiatives at the University and fosters academic excellence through its client-centered support of faculty as teacher-scholars. VITAL provides comprehensive services, programs, and resources to faculty across disciplines to foster engaged, inclusive, high-quality student learning by supporting teaching excellence.
The Assistant Director for Instructional Technologies Integration (AD) will report to the Associate Director for Digital Learning Pedagogy of VITAL and will work closely with the Associate Director to significantly expand VITAL's capacity to support faculty's purposeful selection and implementation of University-supported instructional technologies to improve students' learning experiences and outcomes consistent with the goals of Villanova University's Academic Strategic Plan.
The AD will support VITAL initiatives, programs, and services focused on helping faculty in on-campus undergraduate and graduate programs identify relevant technologies available to them and purposefully integrate them into their course designs and pedagogy to deepen student learning.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Job FunctionsSupport faculty in their purposeful selection and use of tools in the Brightspace LMS.Support faculty in their purposeful selection and use of University-supported instructional technologies.Help faculty, programs, and/or colleges implement instructional technologies that advance University, college, and/or programmatic strategic pedagogical priorities.Research and evaluate pedagogical practices that pertain to emerging instructional technologies.Implement feedback mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of VITAL's support services.Provide Faculty Instructional Development Support and ConsultationDevelop and implement targeted professional development programs for faculty.Consult with faculty and/or departments/programs around the application of evidence-supported practices in instructional technologies.Help faculty identify and develop pedagogical use cases for available instructional technologies.Nonessential Job FunctionsStay current in educational development and/or instructional technologies field.Support faculty research on teaching and learning with technology.Minimum QualificationsFormal EducationEarned Master's degree in instructional design or closely related field required; Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred.Specific Job KnowledgeExtensive knowledge of teaching with technologies and learning experience design.Working knowledge of pedagogical issues related to learning, teaching, and assessment.Minimum Work ExperienceTwo to four years of experience in designing, managing, and assessing technology-enhanced instruction.Work SkillsExcellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to work independently while establishing collaborative working relationships.Preferred QualificationsTeaching experience in higher education using technology strongly preferred.Experience working in a university-based teaching and learning center preferred.References NeededMinimum Number of References Needed: 3
