Executive Remuneration & Statutory Offices, Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal
**About the Branch**
Within the APSC, the Executive Remuneration and Statutory Offices Branch provides policy, research, analysis and secretariat support to the Remuneration Tribunal (RT) and the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT). The Branch also provides support to the Australian Public Service Commissioner on the administration of the Executive Remuneration Management Policy and the policy supporting the merit-based selection of APS agency heads and APS statutory office holders.
The Branch's primary focus is to support and enable both Tribunals to discharge their responsibilities by researching, analysing, and advising the Members on the various issues that they are required to consider.
The Branch plays a significant role in assisting the Tribunals in defining and delivering on their forward work program. The Tribunals meet regularly throughout each year and the Branch prepares an extensive range of papers, briefs and determinations for their consideration and decision. The Branch manages the records of each of the Tribunals and provides the administrative support to facilitate their regular meetings.
The Branch has discreet functions within the Australian Public Service Commission. It comprises a Secretary (SES Band 1); two Senior Advisors (EL2); three Advisors (EL1) and an Administrative Assistant (APS4).
The Branch is a small team of professionals who have a knowledge and interest in public administration, employment structures and contemporary HR practice. The team relies on individuals who possess or would like to attain these capabilities and those who are able to demonstrate through their behaviour a positive, productive and collaborative contribution to a small team environment.
The occupant of this role will report to one of the Senior Advisors in the Branch.
**About the Role**
The occupant of this role is predominantly responsible for managing and supporting the work of the DFRT. In this role they will be responsible for:- Scheduling matters and hearings before the DFRT;
- Liaising with parties before the DFRT;
- Analysing, researching and briefing the DFRT on matters presented;
- Tracking and managing the accuracy and currency of submissions before the DFRT;
- Facilitating the running of DFRT hearings;
- Accompanying Tribunal Members on inspections and visits to ADF ships, units and establishments.
- Drafting decisions and statements;
- Communicating decisions with stakeholders; and
- Assisting in researching and preparing detailed briefs for the Remuneration Tribunal and APS Commissioner's consideration when required.
**Further Information**
Under section 22(8) of the _Public Service Act 1999_, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining citizenship.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated. All Commission staff are required to have a minimum Baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a mandatory National Criminal History check as part of the pre-employment eligibility checks.
