Daikin Europe NV (DENV) is a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Limited, a Japanese outstanding company and worldwide the biggest developer, producer and supplier of HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) solutions, including heating pumps and cooling technology. DENV is Daikin's sales, R&D, and production headquarters for Europe, the Middle-East and Africa. The headquarter has Belgian offices in Brussels, Ghent and Ostend, as well as 8 production plants, 24 sales subsidiaries and offices and a whole network of independent distributors and dealers across the EMEA region.
The financial activities of Daikin companies in the EMEA area are organised by the Daikin Europe Co-ordination Centre N.V. (DECC). In an international context DECC is involved in all aspects of finance, accounting, credit control and projects of corporate and economic/financial nature.
The accounting team is of 5 professionals and carries the responsibility over the monthly, quarterly and yearly result determination of the EMEA headquarter (DENV), DECC & some of its affiliates as well as for the execution of the EMEA group consolidation and the reporting of consolidated results.
Job Content
You are responsible for closings of DENV, and DECC and some affiliates books according to the group standards (IFRS-J) as well as to the Belgian statutory rules. You follow-up and monitor the operational accounting tasks happening in our DENV Shared Service Centre and assist the team when necessary. You supervise the strict workflow in function of the deadlines and evaluate the existing systems and procedures in order to optimize the day-to-day operations. Based on the internal control procedures (according to J-Sox rules), you ensure the correctness of the figures and procedures. You work closely together with the auditors (internal and external); with the departments Finance, Corporate Planning and Manufacturing Planning. You monitor the closing activities and operational accounting activities of the DENV Shared Service Centre. You are part of a team that closely works together and supports your colleagues in the accounting team in the consolidation activities on EMEA level. From a headquarter perspective, you will be involved in a wide range of accounting-related projects, including optimizing, harmonizing, and updating European reporting and valuation rules, as well as managing changes in group structure. This role requires close collaboration with other headquarter departments and our affiliates within the EMEA region. Profile
You have a Master degree, preferably in an economical/financial area. You have 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position or you were employed in a big 4 company, or an accounting firm, or you held a controlling position for a similar period of time. You have strong analytical skills, can keep overview in all situations and think out-of-the-box. You are skilled in presenting complex accounting topics clearly and effectively to senior management and internal stakeholders. You are extroverted and communicative, and you are at ease in formal situations. As a team player, you take initiative, you are eager to learn and work efficiently. A good knowledge of IFRS and Belgian GAAP is recommended. Experience with SAP-FI and/or BW is an advantage. You are fluent in English. Knowledge of another European language is an asset.
