IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The Accountant is responsible for performing routine financial and accounting duties along with reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, reports, and general financial functions. The Accountant maintains and reconciles a variety of ledgers and accounts; assists in reviewing accounting transactions to ensure accuracy, correcting financial records as necessary. The Accountant maintains fixed asset records; creates and monitors internal controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets. The Accountant reconciles general ledger accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting records; prepares journal entries, and researches accounting issues. The Accountant reconciles the town's bank accounts including cash, investments, and bond proceeds. The Accountant assists in the preparations of the Town's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and interacts with external auditors. The Accountant should have some understanding of the GASB, GAAP, and cost accounting rules and regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Two (2) years of journey-level experience in accounting. Preferred experience with fixed asset programs and governmental accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License. Preferred computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel, internet, and accounting software.
