About the FBK Center for Digital IndustryThe FBK Center for Digital Industry focuses its research on digital technologies for various domains in industry such as aerospace, railway, automotive, energy, agriculture, and manufacturing. The center creates applications for critical systems, adaptive and autonomous systems, advanced perception, diagnostics, and prediction systems. It actively collaborates with European research projects and institutions like the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian Railways Network (RFI).The open research position is in the field of automated planning and scheduling for the AI4Work European project. The project aims to develop a framework for collaborative decision-making between humans and AI technologies in an adaptive manner. FBK is responsible for the planning technologies and will demonstrate the framework on real-world use-cases in the industry and logistics domains.Job DescriptionThe candidate will analyze use-case problems, develop temporal planning and scheduling techniques using heuristic search, machine learning, or Satisfiability Modulo theories, and integrate them into real-world systems. Collaboration with researchers, programmers, students, and industrial partners is expected.Job RequirementsThe ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, electronic engineering, or related disciplines by the start date of the contract. Software development skills in Python, C++, or Rust are preferred, along with the ability to conduct independent research and work collaboratively.
