ROLEThe Software Engineer is responsible for the porting/recoding/re-engineering/development of the graphical user interface EcFlow of the Atmosphere, Land, Ocean and Ice Weakly Coupled Data Assimilation System (WCDA). He/She will also support the monitoring and the management of the internal and external data repository and the models coupler development.
ResponsibilitiesThe Software Engineer will support the ESYDA division with the following tasks:
Monitor the execution and quality performance of the WCDAMaintain and implement new features in D4O (Database for Observation), which is an SQL query language handling the observations flow in the data assimilation system since received from GTS and BUFR formatProfile and eventually optimise the data assimilation system code.REQUIREMENTMaster's degree in computer science or engineering;Very good knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and command line interface;Very good knowledge of HPC architecture and job schedulers (i.e., IBM Spectrum LSF);Good knowledge of workflow management platforms;Good knowledge of programming languages (i.e., Python, Bash scripting and Fortran);Good knowledge of SQL query language database;Very good knowledge of the English language;Accuracy and good analytical skills.Duration, Compensation & BenefitsPlease note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally;The software engineer will be based in Lecce CMCC office;The appointment period will be initially of 24 months starting from November 2024, renewable pending a positive evaluation, with a gross annual salary range based on qualification and working experience and competitive with major research centers in Europe;Welfare package;Flexible working time as per internal policies;Support during the immigration process, if needed.PROTECTED CATEGORYBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition. Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
