Our Division of Global Coastal Ocean (GOCO) at the Institute for Earth System Predictions (IESP) is looking for a highly organized and motivated individual with a proven track record in Frontend Development to support the development of digital ocean applications.

ROLE The Frontend Developer reports to the GOCO Division.
The aim of the profile will be to create user-friendly interfaces, designing and implementing features that visualize data related to climate change, ensuring that the platforms are accessible, responsive, and engaging, often collaborating with designers, backend developers, and scientists.
By doing so, they help translate complex scientific data into understandable and actionable information for users, thereby fostering informed decision-making and promoting sustainable practices.
RESPONSIBILITY The Frontend Developer will support the GOCO Division with the development of digital ocean applications.
REQUIREMENTS M.Sc.
degree (or equivalent working experience) in Computer Science, Engineering; Web services and web application development; REST API; HTML, CSS, JavaScript (with cross-browser development); JavaScript frameworks (ReactJS, Angular); Modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token, OAuth; Server-side programming languages (specifically: Python); Version Control Management Systems (git above all); Fluency in the English language; UNIX/Linux operating systems and scripting.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS Web Map Service (WMS), Web Feature Service (WFS), Web GIS; DBMS; Mobile applications languages; Object-oriented design and developmental skills; Platforms for publishing spatial data and interactive mapping applications to the web (i.e.
MapServer); Experience in managing/manipulating NetCDF data; Experience with containerization (Docker); Additional programming languages (specifically: Java).
DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITS Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally; The Managers will be based in Lecce CMCC office; The appointment period will be initially of n° 24 months starting as soon as possible, with a gross annual salary range of 28-36K Euros.
Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher; Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract; Flexible working time as per internal policies; Support during the immigration process, if needed.
PROTECTED CATEGORY Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
