CMCC PositionExpert on Climate change adaptation EngineeringDeadline: July 31st, 2024WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORThe Division of Regional Models and geo-hydrological impacts (REHMI) at the Institute for Climate Resilience (ICR) is seeking a talented Researcher expert on climate change adaptation, standards, and infrastructure asset management including flood risk and asset management of transport infrastructures.
It is considered important a significant expertise in research, construction, maintenance, and improved resilience of civil engineering infrastructures.The Expert will contribute to research products, including project deliverables and scientific publications, ensuring smooth management of financial resources, overseeing day-to-day operations, or providing strategic support for research initiatives.

We are now embarking on a new chapter of our journey that will further boost CMCC's global position in climate change research.ROLEThe successful applicants will be responsible for contributing and developing frameworks to ensure the climate proofing of buildings and infrastructures in a climate change perspective.
The researcher is also expected to contribute to our multifaceted efforts in climate adaptation by researching, analyzing policy frameworks, working in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment, with a visible impact on policy and society.
Furthermore, the candidate is expected to carry out mentoring activities for younger profiles, supporting their training.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Researcher will support the Regional Models and geo-hydrological impacts (REMHI), with activities related to climate change adaptation, standards, and infrastructure resource management, including flood risk and transport infrastructure resource management.REQUIREMENTSPhD (or equivalent working experience) in civil engineering, hydrological sciences, or related environmental studies;Consolidated knowledge of standards for building construction and maintenance and their adaptation to climate change;Past experience as an expert adviser for infrastructure construction and maintenance;Consolidated experience in acting as a mentor and trainer for early career scientists;Proven ability to support the management and the improvement of experts' networks;Proven expertise in drafting reports, policy briefs supporting practitioners, decision-makers, and administrations to deal with climate change related issues;Fluency in English.ADDITIONAL SKILLS:Willingness and motivation to learn;Teamworking and problem-solving attitude;Accuracy in performing the tasks and efficiency in meeting deadlines, managing priorities, and achieving results;Flexibility and adaptability to work on diverse projects and respond to emerging challenges in the topic.DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITSPlease note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally;The Managers will be based in Caserta CMCC office;The appointment period will be initially of n°12 months starting from September 2024.
Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher.
