We are looking for a Risk Analyst, capable of effectively managing complex and heterogeneous datasets and leveraging Earth Observation data, with the ability to prioritize tasks and solve problems efficiently. To learn more about this opportunity and submit your application, please refer to the following: ROLE The Risk Analyst will support the RAAS research team with the collection, examination, processing and analysis of hazard, exposure and vulnerability data needed to inform risk modelling and assessment. RESPONSIBILITIES The Risk Analyst will support the RAAS research team, with: Satellite data acquisition and processing from multiple sensors;Hazard, exposure and vulnerability indices calculation;Handling of complex geospatial data and their processing;Large datasets harmonization and management;Support to data preparation and harmonization for machine learning applications;Contribution to perform quantitative (climate) risk and multi-risk assessments;Contribution to develop climate risk and adaptation services. REQUIREMENTSMaster's degree in computer science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Crop Sciences or Environmental Sciences;Work experience in GIS analysis, remote sensing analysis and coding;Previous experience in analysis of climate change impacts, vulnerabilities and risk;Proficiency with common programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++);Knowledge of (geo)statistics and of geospatial data processing software and tools;Very good knowledge of the English language;Accuracy and good analytical skills.Preferred qualification:Experience in Machine learning and Deep neural network model application for climate change risk assessment in complex environmental systems. DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITSPlease note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally. The role will be based in the Venice CMCC office.The appointment period will be initially of 6 months (possible extension based on performace) starting from 2ndSeptember2024, with a gross annual salary range from22K to30KEuros, based on experience. Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher. Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.Flexible working time as per internal policies.Support during the immigration process, if needed.
