12478 CMCC Position Climate & Weather Model Research Assistant (Deadline: November 11th, 2024) ABOUT US The CMCC Foundation is a scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Our Division of Regional Models and geo-hydrological impacts (REMHI), located in Caserta , is looking for a new position of Climate & weather model research assistant for supporting the REMHI Division research activities in the field of climate simulations and in the framework of the different national and international activities currently on going.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (or equivalent); Good knowledge of the English language; Knowledge of the main numerical algorithms for solving: Linear Systems of Equations, Systems of Nonlinear Equations, Ordinary Differential Equations; Knowledge of common operating systems (as Windows, MacOS); Knowledge and capability to use the Main Mathematical Libraries; knowledge of FORTRAN and other programming languages as MATLAB, Python; Knowledge of Linux operating system; Knowledge of SAP data base; Knowledge of climate data management program (as CDO, NCO); Capability to prepare technical / scientific documentation, also in the context of projects Availability to travel (limited period); Availability to take part in face-to-face meetings at the REMHI headquarters in Caserta; Enthusiasm for the research and the work within young and multidisciplinary team.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Good communication skills; Problem-solving attitude; High motivation to learn; Good in time and priority management; Keeping deadlines.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The appointment period will be initially of 12 months starting as soon as possible, renewable for more additional months pending a positive evaluation.
Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher; The gross annual salary range is from 17 to 24 K Euros , depending on qualification and working experience; Private health care coverage; Welfare package; Possibility to access flexible working time as per internal policies; Support during the immigration process, if needed.
